About this session on the impact of COVID-19
Prof (Dr) Rakesh Kumar Sharma is CEO and Director (Academics and Innovation) at CDPRR. He is an academic and disaster management expert with a background in pharmaceutical sciences, has held leadership roles at leading institutions, and has contributed to CBRN defence guidelines in India.
COVID-19 remains one of the clearest recent examples of how a biological event becomes a wider disaster, affecting health systems, livelihoods, education and governance at the same time. That is why it sits within disaster management rather than public health alone.
