The security measures in place during major events like the Commonwealth Games can be as frustrating for terrorists as a successful attack is for security forces. The absence of a terrorist strike during the Games can be seen as a testament to the effectiveness of the deterrence created by the security arrangements. However, the fact that these measures were event-specific highlights the vulnerability of other crowded areas in the city, especially to CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear) threats.
To address this, it is essential to not only preserve the trained personnel from such events but also to expand the network of trained individuals. This network should continue to grow until all densely populated areas in the city are adequately covered. Furthermore, such efforts should be replicated in every major city across India to ensure a broader and more sustained level of preparedness against potential threats.
